Using technologies and data it’s possible to make more accurate and timely decisions and to adapt agronomic decisions to the specific conditions of the individual areas of the field, based on environmental, climatic, and crop variables. In addition, precision agriculture, by automating activities such as sowing, pruning, and harvesting, reduces the dependence on manual labor and increases efficiency.

In addition, real-time monitoring can be carried out with drones, allowing timely changes in treatments, and inspections can be carried out on difficult-to-access land in a faster, more efficient manner, without damage to crops.

Data processing

Precision Agriculture requires the management and analysis of large amounts of data from three main potential sources: satellites, drones, and fixed stations. The use of drones is essential for the accurate and timely collection of data, which can be integrated with data from other sources.

The data is processed through advanced analysis software, which produces information useful for agronomic decisions.

Our projects

Our projects are structured in several activities that include, by way of example, the following activities:

Soil mapping

Through the use of our fleet of drones, we create high-resolution three-dimensional maps of agricultural land, showing variations in topography and soil structure. Through the mapping of the land and crops, Precision Agriculture allows a reduction in agricultural inputs (e.g., water, fertilizers, pesticides), reducing environmental impact and allowing a saving in time and labor both in the activities of surveying the conditions of the field and delivery of inputs.

Multispectral and thermal scans

With high-precision and short-time overflights for the collection of data useful for defining action plans on crops, such as NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), GNDV (Green Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) for a detection of health status of plants, water stress, presence of weeds. This data, adequately analyzed, provides a precise and valid decision-making support for an adequate planning of the crops and for the intervention strategies on the crops.

Security and surveillance

We support agricultural companies in the surveillance of the fields and in the prevention of acts of vandalism, theft of agricultural equipment, and invasion of wildlife.


Drones can be used to spread liquids and substances into the soil, such as fertilizers, biological and phytosanitary products, water, seeds, anti-stress and anti-odor substances, dyes and pigments, depending on the specific needs of the crops and the goals of the farm.

Specialized services

Flowdron is currently providing specialized application services with a fleet of high-capacity drones with a particular specialization in viticulture, olive growing and in the field of fruit and vegetables.

It is also conducting trials at the Italian and international level to quantify the benefits of using drones, especially in the distribution of pesticides, which today is only possible on the basis of ad hoc projects on a regional basis in derogation of the general ban on the use of air vehicles, despite the greater precision in the application, the lower environmental and safety impact and the possibility of distributing biological control agents by “fall”, a functionality not possible on ground vehicles that require high pressures for the distribution of substances.

Heroic viticulture

In addition, the use of drones can replace manual application where it is currently necessary and reduce the impact of crops carried out in extreme soil conditions and access methods, such as “heroic viticulture”.
